Closing Day
Reaching closing is an important milestone, but there are still a few details to handle before the property is officially yours.
Final Walk-Through Inspection
The final walk-through typically takes place shortly before closing. This gives you an opportunity to confirm that the property’s condition is consistent with what you agreed to purchase.
You’ll want to verify that the property is in the expected condition, that agreed-upon items remain at the property, and that there are no unexpected changes since your last visit.
Home Services and Utilities
Jamie will provide a list of useful contacts for setting up home services and utilities after closing.
Be Prepared
Unexpected issues can sometimes arise during the final stages of a transaction. If something needs attention before closing, Jamie is available to help you work through the issue and coordinate with the appropriate parties.
Closing
At closing, the closing agent will provide the parties with a settlement statement outlining the financial details of the transaction. Buyers obtaining financing will also sign the documents required by their lender.
If you’re unable to attend the scheduled closing, alternative arrangements may be possible depending on the circumstances and the notice provided.
If you need to bring funds to closing, the closing agent will provide instructions regarding the required amount and acceptable form of payment. The seller will also provide the property keys and other applicable items at closing.
Once the required documents are signed and the transaction is completed, you can move into your new property.
